Fort Bonifacio Global City seen to match Makati space by 2012!
03/02/2010

Fort Bonifacio Global City expects to equal Makati in terms of floor area by 2012, its development arm said. It cited the continuous construction of condominiums, corporate headquarters, and retail businesses in the burgeoning area as basis for this declaration.

The Fort Bonifacio Development Corp. (FBDC) said it foresees the growth area's gross floor area to hit 2.6 million square meters by 2012 or more than double the figure today. Residential units are expected to reach just slightly over 8,400 units by that year, matching that of Makati. Ortigas Center's area is placed at slightly above 7,000 units.

Development of the Global City is proceeding northward and creating the impetus for the development of new residential and commercial space. The existing Bonifacio High Street commercial center is being extended further toward the "City Center North" area which contains 14 commercial lots.

Meanwhile, work is being done in the North Bonifacio component of the city to accommodate more office and residential spaces. It connects with the slightly-advanced developments in the Bonifacio Triangle area that lies adjacent to the Kalayaan Road.

A science museum dubbed 'The Mind Museum' is expected to further enhance the attractions in Fort Bonifacio Global City and is expected to attract 250,000 visitors yearly upon its completion in 2011.

"The vision is to create an ideal and balanced lifestyle with sufficient time for work and recreation. By creating an environment that fosters such a balance, we hope to attract locators who will contribute further to this goal," Noel Kintanar, FBDC head of commercial operations, said.

He further disclosed that there are also plans to expand and upgrade the transport system and other infrastructure systems in Fort Bonifacio Global City so that it ensures a functioning and efficient city.

FBDC is a joint venture between Ayala Land, Inc., the Campos-led Evergreen Holdings, Inc., and the government's Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA).
